
Mr Lew Chuen Hong is currently Partner, at Tech Venture Capital Firm Granite Asia. It is Asia’s leading multi-asset investment platform with >$5bn AUM. Over the past 24 years, Granite Asia has funded 18% of all billion-dollar companies in the region. Chuen Hong partners with visionary founders globally, seeking to amplify their potential in the fastest growing region in the world.
Prior to Granite Asia, Mr Lew was Chief Executive of the Infocom and Media Development Authority (IMDA) of Singapore. IMDA's national mandate as “Architects of Singapore’s Digital Future” is to maximise the economic and social good of the Tech and Media domains. The mandate is interdisciplinary by design and encompasses 5 key roles. As an economic developer; investing in Frontier R&D (from AI to Quantum), driving enterprise digital transformation, and growing the Tech Talent and Start-up ecosystems. As a progressive regulator; overseeing digital infrastructure from Data Centres/GPUs and submarine cables to the soft-infrastructure digital Utility Stack (Digital ID, Invoicing, Data Sharing). As a policy maker; driving a trusted Data and AI governance ecosystem – including as founding member of the global network of AI Safety Institutes. As a social leveller; addressing digital inclusion and dealing with emerging online risks. As a digital diplomat; navigating the global geopolitical environment around Tech.
Prior to this, he had served a distinguished career in the Navy, and in the pinnacle position of the Chief of Navy. Over his 25-year career, he has taken on multiple long-term planning and operational appointments including being Captain of the Missile Corvette RSS Vengeance. Tours included Naval deployment to the North Arabian Gulf, for the re-construction of Iraq after the Second Gulf War, for which he was awarded the Overseas Service Medal.
He had previously served on the Boards of Singapore’s Space Agency (OSTIN), ST Engineering, Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School, the Maritime and Port Authority, and was Board Chairman of Pick Networks. He co-Chaired the Digital Trust Centre, Singapore’s AI Safety Institute. He was also Commissioner at the United Nations International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Broadband Commission.
Mr Lew is an Alumni, and graduated with a Bachelors in Biology with a Minor in Economics (Honours and Distinction), and Masters in Biology (Neuroscience) from Stanford University. He is also a Sloan Fellow, from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
