CEO, Parity

Since earning her degree in Philosophy at UNC Chapel Hill, Liz has spent her career of 10 years in AI startups in NYC tech, most notably at computer vision company Clarifai where she first spoke out publicly about the dangers of AI in military and law enforcement. After quitting her position as head of annotations over ethical concern, Liz joined two organizations intending to make the world safer and less discriminatory by limiting the use of AI while installing safety constraints to protect those most at-risk from AI harm. She was the first staff member, the Technology Director, for New York nonprofit Surveillance Technology Oversight Project (STOP) and cofounder / VP of Responsible AI at AI Explainability and model monitoring company Arthur. Liz left Arthur and STOP in May of 2021 to take over Dr. Rumman Chowdhury’s Parity, announced in June 2021.
