Matthew Daniels
Technical Director for Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research & Engineering
Dr. Matthew Daniels works in the Office of the Secretary of Defense, where his current areas of focus include machine learning, artificial intelligence, and U.S. space programs. He is also an affiliate at MIT's Media Lab and Stanford's Center for International Security and Cooperation (CISAC), and an adjunct professor at Georgetown, where he teaches on space security and exploration. Previously, he worked in the Office of Net Assessment in the Office of the Secretary of Defense, and the strategy and plans team for the NASA Administrator. Before that he was a research engineer at NASA, with work in stochastic decision and control systems, spacecraft design, and new science missions with allied governments. Matt received his Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in engineering from Stanford, a B.A. in physics from Cornell, is a recipient of the Department of Defense Medal for Distinguished Public Service, and was a science fellow at CISAC.
