Seth Lazar

Associate Professor, Philosophy Department, Australian National University

Seth Lazar is a philosopher at the Australian National University. He has worked on the ethics of war, moral decision-making under risk, and now on the moral and political philosophy of artificial intelligence, publishing papers and books with the world's leading philosophy journals and presses. He is Head of the School of Philosophy at the ANU, and Project Lead of the recently launched Humanising Machine Intelligence Grand Challenge project (, which unites philosophers, computer scientists, and social scientists in the goal of developing moral machine intelligence, grounded in democratically legitimate values.
