In its fifth year, HAI continued to accelerate its efforts to bring together thought leaders from academia, industry, government, and civil society to shape the development and responsible deployment of AI.
Stanford HAI took great strides forward in the areas of research, education, policy, and society to guide and build the future of AI as it applies to medicine, government, education, and other aspects of society.
HAI’s research efforts gained significant momentum in the 2021-22 academic year. The team was excited to return to in-person events and to establish the Ethics and Society Review process as part of HAI’s grant programs. The institute held 81 events, reaching a total 19,475 attendees between in-person and virtual platforms.
The milestones accomplished in the 2020 - 2021 academic year include progress with the National AI Research Resource, a significant program for EU policymakers, and exciting findings from our Hoffman-Yee grant recipients.
During the 2019–2020 academic year, HAI faculty, fellows, and partners engaged in dozens of collaborative projects spanning many aspects of technology and society.
