The rapid acceleration of AI comes with a profound wave of anxiety. Across every sector of society, people are facing unsettling questions about their worth and their place in a shifting world.

Join us for a conversation with Tina Seelig and alumni guests Steve Garrity and Juliet Rothenberg. Seelig is a professor of the practice within the Department of Management Science & Engineering (MS&E), faculty co-director of the Stanford Technology Ventures Program (STVP) and author. At Stanford, Seelig has taught courses on on creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship in MS&E and the Hasso Plattner Institute of Design (d.school). In the past, she has worked as a management consultant for Booz, Allen, and Hamilton, a multimedia producer at Compaq Computer Corporation and was the founder of a multimedia company called BookBrowser. She graduated from Stanford with a Ph.D. in Neuroscience.

Guests

Steve Garrity is the founder of Hearsay Systems, a SaaS digital marketing platform for financial services that uses predictive analytics to help financial advisors automate marketing tasks. Before founding Hearsay, Garrity worked as a program manager and engineer at Microsoft, where he developed the Azure.net services platform and worked as a product manager at Fortify Software. He graduated from Stanford, where he was a Mayfield Fellow, with bachelor’s and master’s degrees, both in computer science.

Juliet Rothenberg is a product manager at DeepMind, a world leader in artificial intelligence research and its application for positive impact. Rothenberg has held roles in product management at Opower, Waymo and Google. She was named to Forbes “30 Under 30” list in 2015. She graduated from Stanford with a bachelor’s degree in energy strategy and engineering, where she was a Mayfield Fellow, and from Harvard Law School with a J.D.
