
Jason Elliott is the president of Versus Solutions, a consulting firm specializing in policy-based strategic advising, political campaigns, and corporate consulting. He is also the California Policy Fellow at Stanford University’s Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence, a member of the California Protocol Foundation Board, and a gubernatorial appointee to the California Transportation Commission.
Prior to founding Versus in July 2024, Jason worked for Governor Gavin Newsom. Jason was Governor Newsom's Deputy Chief of Staff, a position in which Jason advised the Governor on a variety of policy issues and matters of state operations. For several years through the COVID pandemic, he led the Administration's agenda on housing and homelessness. Before serving in the Administration, Jason served as a Senior Advisor to both Governor-elect Newsom’s transition and Newsom's campaign for Governor of California.
Prior to his work at the state level, he worked in the San Francisco Mayor's Office for nearly a decade — starting under Mayor Newsom. He served as Chief of Staff to San Francisco Mayor Edwin M. Lee, a position he also held for Mayor London Breed after Mayor Lee's untimely passing.
Jason is a graduate of Columbia University and the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. He grew up in Palo Alto, CA and lives in San Francisco with his wife, Nicole and their two young children.
