Steve Denning

Steven A. Denning is chairman of General Atlantic, a global private equity firm with about $35 billion of capital under management. He is a board member of the Council on Foreign Relations, the National Park Foundation, College Advising Corps, Blue Meridian Partners and the Markle Foundation, and is a trustee at the Bridgespan Group and the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. He is the former co-chair of The Nature Conservancy. Steve is the former chair of the Stanford Board of Trustees and the Stanford GSB Advisory Council. He is currently the chair of the Global Advisory Council to the President, the Freeman Spogli Institute and the Natural Capital Project Advisory Councils, all at Stanford University, and is a member of the Knight-Hennessy Scholar Program Advisory Board and the Stanford Distinguished Careers Institute Advisory Council. Steve graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1970, served for six years in the U.S. Navy, earning an MS in management from the Naval Postgraduate School in 1971, and an MBA from Stanford in 1978.
