Youssef Faragalla

Neurosciences

I am a Ph.D. candidate in the Neurosciences program at Stanford University, where I work with Professor Stephen Baccus. My research focuses on how the retina and visual cortex encode complex natural scenes. I combine large-scale neural recordings in mice with state-of-the art machine learning models and model interpretability tools to map how visual computations emerge across stages of the visual hierarchy under dynamic, naturalistic visual stimuli and how they are altered in different contexts, including vision disorders. Prior to coming to Stanford, I completed my undergraduate and master’s degrees in neuroscience at George Mason University, conducted biophysics research at the NIH, and worked at a biomedical device startup.
