First Open Virtual Assistant Workshop
The Open Virtual Assistant Lab (OVAL) is organizing the First Open Virtual Assistant Workshop to be held on October 30, 2019, at Stanford University, as part of the Stanford HAI Fall Conference. The purpose of the OVAL lab is to create an ecosystem with open, federated, state-of-the-art virtual assistants to accelerate linguistic technology, make technology openly available, accelerate adoption, and enable sharing with privacy. The OVAL lab has created a first open-source, virtual assistant that supports sharing with privacy (Almond), an open skill platform (Thingpedia), and an open-source neural model (LUInet). AI and Digital Policy in China
China’s government and tech industry have great ambitions for artificial intelligence development and leadership, and Chinese society is facing economic, ethical, and regulatory challenges related to AI much like those around the world. At a time when the U.S. and Chinese governments are locked in escalating disputes over technology and trade, understanding Chinese ambitions, realities, and politics surrounding digital technologies is ever more important.
HAI-AI Index Workshop on Measurement in AI Policy: Opportunities and Challenges
This one-day, invitation-only workshop hosted by The AI Index Program at the Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence (HAI) Institute at Stanford University, provides a forum for participants to shape measurement in AI policy. AI Index data partners, HAI-AI Index experts, policymakers, representatives from multilateral institutions, interdisciplinary research community and others are invited for collaboration and expanding impact of the workshop.
