Empirical Methods in the Age of AI Conference

Oct 02, 2026

Save the Date. Artificial intelligence is transforming how researchers collect, analyze, and learn from data. As AI systems become increasingly integrated into scientific discovery, business decision-making, and policy analysis, they are reshaping both the questions researchers can ask and the methods they use to answer them.

In this talk, Dr. Juan Lavista Ferres will share insights from applying artificial intelligenfe for global impact, as outlines in the AI for Good book. Moving beyond traditional AI discourse, Juan will highlight real-world examples where AI has been harnassed to address some of the world's most presing challenges- from biodiversity conversation to disaster response. Through these stories, Juan demonstrates AI as a force for ethical and impactful change, sparking conversations on how we can use today's technology to drive solutions on a global scale. The smartphones we carry in our pockets surpass the computing power that once sent astronauts to the moon. With this technology at our fingertips, we have the tools to address societal challenges in innovative ways. We no longer have excuses.
