Benjamin Perez
HAI Graduate Fellow
Benjamin is a PhD student in the Department of Anthropology interested in the big question of what it means to be human in the Age of Generative AI. How are emerging AI tools, especially Large Language Models, imagined to be persons in society and how do these imaginaries guide the ways in which we choose to recruit and govern these tools in practice? To answer these questions Benjamin uses approaches from Linguistic Anthropology and the Anthropology of Mind to study the social semiotics of AI systems.
