Moez Chakchouk
Assistant Director-General, Communication and Information Sector, UNESCO
Moez Chakchouk has served as UNESCO’s Assistant Director-General for Communication and Information since May 2018, where he is responsible for the Organization’s programmes on fostering freedom of expression and building inclusive knowledge societies.
From 2015 to 2018, Mr Chakchouk was Chairman and CEO of the Tunisian Post, a leading institution for social and financial inclusion in Tunisia. In February 2011, after the Tunisian revolution, Moez was appointed Chairman and CEO of ATI (the former Tunisian Internet Agency), the leading internet operator in Tunisia since 1996. In 2015, he served as a member of the Global Commission on Internet Governance. He obtained an MS in Telecommunications and a PhD in telecommunications and applied mathematics in 2009 from Paris Descartes University, France.
Moez is a strong defender of human rights online and offline, has led technology transformations in his country and beyond, and participated in numerous international forums and conferences.
