Nader Mousavi

Nader Mousavi, JD ’97, is widely considered one of the world’s top technology deal lawyers and leading advisors in the field of artificial intelligence.
Recognized as a 2024 “Dealmaker of the Year” by The American Lawyer and the 2023 California “Attorney of the Year” by The Recorder, Nader is a partner at Sullivan & Cromwell LLP, where he leads the IP and Technology Transactions Group and AI Practice.
For over 25 years, Nader has serves as trusted counsel to major companies, innovators and investors on transformative transactions driven by technology and intellectual property.
Nader led the representation of OpenAI in its strategic transactions with Microsoft, Apple, Oracle and CoreWeave. He has advised clients on major AI compute transactions with Amazon/AWS, Google/GCP, Microsoft/Azure and Oracle/OCI, and advises a wide range of companies across industries on AI adoption, implementation and governance. He serves as lead counsel on AI strategy for the Bank Policy Institute, the leading policy organization for major banks.
Nader has been a Lecturer in Law at Stanford Law School since 2016, where he teaches a popular course on the Business and Law of Technology and Patent Licensing. He serves on the Board of Visitors for Stanford Law School, and is a recipient of the Governors’ Award for outstanding service to Stanford University. Nader received his J.D. from Stanford Law School and his undergraduate degree from UCLA.
