Stanford HAI and the Wu Tsai Neurosciences Institute jointly seek proposals that transform our understanding of the human brain using AI and advance the development of intelligent technology.

The joint initiative funds ambitious, interdisciplinary projects that rethink how AI and neuroscience work together to transform our understanding of the human brain and advance artificially intelligent systems.

We seek proposals with at least two independent co-PIs who bring distinct methodological or disciplinary expertise. The project should meaningfully integrate AI and neuroscience to achieve results that exceed what either field could accomplish on its own.

Key Details

  • Award: Up to $125,000 in direct costs for one year, less an 8% infrastructure charge

  • Eligibility: Teams must include at least two independent co-PIs. All applicants must be affiliated with both Institutes (Wu Tsai Neuro affiliation form; HAI affiliation form)

CLOSED. APPLICATIONS WERE DUE ON JANUARY 16, 2026.
