Fred Turner is a professor of Communication at Stanford, where his research focuses on media, technology and American cultural history. His book From Counterculture to Cyberculture: Stewart Brand, the Whole Earth Network, and the Rise of Digital Utopianism shows how 60s counterculture mixed with the personal computing industry to influence generations of techno-political thought.

Event moderated by Jasmine Sun (Stanford Sociology), Jessica Dai (Brown CS), and Ben Wolfson (National Cancer Institute).

This event series is hosted and managed by Reboot, which is an event series and newsletter that convenes book-lovers, writers, and technologists to imagine the future of tech, humanity, and power.
