The Stanford Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence (HAI) is pleased to share that PepsiCo has joined as the inaugural member of the Stanford HAI Corporate Affiliate Program’s Consumer Goods, Retail & AI focus area.

This focus area is targeted at the intersection of consumer goods, retail and AI, connecting manufacturers, suppliers, distributors, and consumer goods and retail corporations with Stanford’s cutting-edge AI research. Priorities include optimizing supply chains, forecasting, and smart manufacturing; delivering personalized consumer experiences; enhancing organizational design through AI; and sustainability.

"Stanford HAI is excited to welcome PepsiCo as the inaugural member of the HAI Corporate Affiliate Program’s focus area in Consumer Goods, Retail & AI. As a global food & beverage company, it is great to see that PepsiCo champions the human-centered use of AI to ensure that technological advancements, along with its products and services, align with ethical values and societal needs," said James Landay, vice director and director of research for Stanford HAI.

“At PepsiCo, we believe that AI should augment the human experience,” said Athina Kanioura, chief strategy & transformation officer at PepsiCo. “Stanford HAI's broad expertise and integration of AI in human-centered systems allow us to understand the implications of this advancing technology and how to use it responsibly. This research collaboration will go beyond one single company’s challenges and instead aims to guide industry leadership toward an understanding of how AI can benefit our society and shape its future.”

“We're thrilled to collaborate with PepsiCo, a global powerhouse impacting billions, which highlights the magnitude of responsibly deploying AI. This collaboration unveils a spectrum of AI use cases in the consumer industry, accelerating groundbreaking progress in areas such as AI and sustainability, supply chain, smart manufacturing, and AI safety,” said Panos Madamopoulos-Moraris, Stanford HAI managing director of the partnerships and industry programs.
