The Stanford Institute for Human-Centered AI is pleased to announce that Hanwha Life Insurance, a Korean insurance company, has joined as a member of the Stanford HAI Corporate Affiliate Program’s Financial Services focus area.

This area is geared specifically to the finance sector, focusing on insurance, investments, banks, fintech, and other financial services institutions in areas including responsible AI, human-centered design, and human-computer interaction. This incorporates research areas such as AI-based agents, financial investment platforms, AI-based conversational systems, and healthcare applications.

“As companies seek to better understand and integrate AI into their services, it’s imperative that they consider the short and long-term ramifications of the technologies to individuals, communities, and society at large,” said Stanford HAI Co-director James Landay. “This is core to HAI’s mission, and we’re excited that Hanwha Life Insurance will be joining the HAI corporate affiliate program.”

"We are thrilled to take a meaningful step forward in the AI world for the better life of mankind with HAI," said Ilgoo Kim, the director of the Hanwha Life Insurance AI Research Team. "Hanwha Life Insurance recognizes the infinite possibilities of coexistence with AI and is exploring and developing the key elements of future finance in collaboration with AI. From leveraging AI to improve business efficiency in the near term to envisioning and shaping an unknown future, we aim to pursue creative AI leadership in various fields alongside the industry's foremost experts, including with HAI."

“At HAI, we work with companies to prioritize business strategies that place humans at the center of AI,” says Panos Madamopoulos-Moraris, Stanford HAI’s Managing Director for Industry Programs and Partnerships. “We’re excited to have Hanwha Life Insurance join our program, our first Korean affiliate, as the company focuses on AI applications and research crucial to the financial service sector and beyond.”

The HAI Corporate Affiliate Program engages with companies that share HAI’s mission to advance AI research, education, policy, and practice to improve the human condition. The program provides the opportunity for these companies to interact with Stanford faculty as well as other corporate members, through educational experiences, lectures, research, and more.
